i started school today, man was it tough. one whole class. feels good to be back though, i felt like less of a piece of shit today compared to most days.
so i’m taking contemporary chicanos to finish my liberal arts degree and feeling out a psych major (maybe) by taking two classes that are required for that major, but do not require me to declare a psych major to take them. if that makes sense.
i’ve been drinking and going out a lot less, as it has become unfulfilling lately. something about seeing someone at a bar and chatting with them for hours, feeling like you’re having a good time, and then seeing the same person randomly in public during the day, it’s remarkable how many of us are socially awkward to one another unless we’re in a bar setting. i try to make small talk with people, albeit unsuccessfully some of the time, but it’s an effort. it’s just a bummer to see how very few of us can be friends outside of bars and parties. thats just the way things are i guess, i mean it’s not like i’m making an effort either. just something i’ve been observing and thinking about.
basically blowing $20-40 bucks a night sucks. but that doesn’t mean staying home and getting high and playing super nintendo is any better. life is weird.
i’ve been biking a lot. soon i wont be able to. it’s an escape from the reality of jobs and everything else in life.
DAY 8: June 8th, 2008 (driving all day)
well i sure felt like shit when i woke up on the wet, hot floor of the van, staring at that maroon carpet. jesus. i washed up in a gas station and smoked a cigarette and sat shotgun waiting for my turn to drive. today we were driving for about 9 hours, maybe more, across nebraska and colorado to denver. we finished palanhiuk’s new book on cd, which was alright. definitely his weakest work. but enjoyable. our cd player was broken anyway from me punching it the previous night, so between listening to the book we were playing music out of a zune connected to a portable dvd player…..so you can imagine how that sounded. it was still better than listening to the only 3 cds we had in the van, which i was getting horribly sick of or never enjoyed to begin with (we had a live against me record, the new weezer red album, and a hold steady record. no thanks.)
i took over driving for the last few hours to denver. right when we got there we booked it to a (nicer) hotel and used a coupon to get a room for real cheap. the rest of the day was ours to relax, and relax we did. i got real high and ordered pizza with logan while we watched cable tv and had a few beers. great night.
gotta go to work, i will update this after! i must!
