DAY 7: June 7th, 2008 (Hull Ave. Tavern, 21+) Des Moines, Iowa

We woke up in our hotel and drove off for a few hours on the hottest (but cloudiest!) day EVER.  by the time we reached des moines though, it was sunny and hot.  on our way out of town we spotted a winery and visited that, it was really random and far out in the country.  gabve and logan bought  bottles of wine that they never drank, and i ate some cheese and crackers and sampled many different wines including a chocolate one.  yeah!  in des moines we checked out the capital building area, but ended up having much more fun at a flooded river and a random diner owned by some dude with lots of piercings and tattoos.  we ate breakfast at 6 pm and headed out to the Hull for some beer and a performance.

they had a guitar signed by corey something of slipknot, who had played there just days earlier.  they gave us free tap beer all night.  there was one other band, the singer tried to give us “advice” and “lessons” on being a “real band.”  she talked endlessly about begging for change at truck stops a few towns over, claiming that that was the only way to be a “legitimate musician.”  blah blah blah, we dont care.  we played pretty well, and i blacked out right around the time we left.  our cd player was on the fritz again so i punched it (apparently) and it started working.  we cheered and celebrated for a good 4 seconds before it totally broke.  i passed out until a super storm hit somewhere in nebraska.  we pulled into a supermarket and hung out there for the worst of it, but decided to sleep in the van that night.  i was sick to my stomach from nachos, and left the van to puke in the parking lot in the pouring, freezing rain.  i returned to sleep on the too small and uncomfortable floor of logan the van, which was the worst night of the whole tour.

i apologize as i ma drunk right now.  i am not going back to msum for music as i do not want to ruin music for myself as i have already ruined art.  i wokr at hte radisson and the theatre (again).  fuck.  shit.

better entry.  tomorrow.  or the nest day.
