yesterday. i am glad, this summer is going by too fast. i used to stay up/out late every day, bike until 4 am etc, and that allowed me to measure the summer by days, making it much more enjoyable. these days i measure my summer in weeks, and it’s a lot less cool. a week of work blah….cant stay out late because i have to get up at 7am……oh! a weekend! i’ll drink so much that i dont remember it! fuck, another week of work….
i am sad that i wont get to see my client anymore. he enjoys working with me and i with him, and the TB manager says he is considerably less happy and doesnt work as hard when i’m not with him. i have no idea how i’m going to tell him that i’ll be gone in a week. BUT! for now lets focus on this 3 day weekend and applying for my new job at the radisson with marcus.
here’s another day of the tour
DAY 4: June 4th, Oshkosh, WI (house show)
we woke up at brian’s place and he and his roommate made us pancakes and eggs for breakfast. it was so…so good. im pretty sure we played mario and smoked more before leaving for oshkosh.
we did stop in chippewa falls to take a tour of the leinenkugel brewery, which was pretty fun. and who can say no to free beer?
we also passed an antique shop on the way to the brewery and spotted a huge pair of steer horns for sale. afterwards, we ran over there to check them out. they were only 15 dollars so logan and gabe bought them, intending to somehow attach them to the top of our van. i will admit i was skeptical at first, but a few days later when the construction actually took place, my opinion changed completely.
we arrived at the house we were playing at around 6 or so, and a handful of people were drinking beer and grilling in the backyard. it felt like home! we pulled up, said hey, and literally started to drink without being there for even 2 minutes. most everyone were in the other two bands. we all retired down to the basement where the southside stranglers played for a bit. i enjoyed it, half because of the dingy basement. then the kinetic friends played (they owned the house) which was a treat to watch. weird shit. they only did 4 songs so we could play and then everyone could go out to get drunk. because of space issues i just used the kinetic friends drum kit, which was challenging. the setup was a bit off for my tastes, plus there were a handful of random percussive instruments available including a gong and a suspended propane tank. everyone loved us though, bought cds and shirts. the southside stranglers even gave us their merch money since it was a free show, and they knew we needed the gas. we proceeded to hop in a van and run down to a bar, which was oddly enough closing after this night. we drank a lot of pitchers of lizard ale, chatted with hipsters, and played chicken with “the ugly table.” i talked to a lot of metal dudes. a hippie chick stopped dancing with gabe when she went under his arm and smelled his pits. i spilled constantly throughout the night, totaling probably over two cups of beer.
2am was approaching and i was outside with trevor. we were in a strange town, blackout drunk, and decided to walk back to the house we were staying at. somehow i successfully led us there, but not without childish behavior. lots of yelling “fffuuuccckkk yooouuuu!” at one point i climbed up to steal the letters off of a big sign, and the owner was still at the front door to my surprise. all he said was “oh come on, dont steal those…..” not in an angry tone, but more of an “i just worked 16 hours and dont want to deal with this” tone. trevor tells me that at one point i removed the nozzle from a gas pump, gently set it on the ground, and yelled “run!” although i do not remember it. we eventually arrived back and i died on a couch covered in dog hair.
for your viewing pleasure, i present: a metal dude. in the basement.
